After much agony over the last two weeks trying to learn a bit of python I'd
like to report some progress:
Firstly, after extensive searching of the web and trying out various
tutorials, I can highly recommend the following which you can view on line or
download which I did and peruse at your liesure:
http://www.g2swaroop.net/files/byte/byte_of_python_xhtml_115.zip
Secondly, thanks to the patients of Karsten and Hilmar and utter frustration,
I've finally managed to be able to save configuration parameters back to the
database.
I can now save the column sizes in the patientslist in demographics, and popup
a font dialog and change the font in the list as the accompanying png will
show.
Along the way I've learnt some basic python - about operators, lists,
dictionaries, tuples, loops etc.
My biggest frustration remains with the wxPython and gnuMed documentation
which is aimed at programmers, not at those like me trying to learn.
See the attatched file with dummy patients, but illustrates the adjusted
column widths, and changing the font text.
Regards
richard
