In X-chat Freenode should already be configured and rady to go in the 
servers list.
Typing:
/join #gnumed
will join the #gnumed channel
I'm going to go on now and see if anyone is there. Maybe I'll start 
lurking from now on, I didn't know we had an IRC channel?
