Those are sandbox directores for running LaTeX in.

GNUmed deletes them after generating the PDF -- unless there
was an error during PDF generation and/or the PDF cannot be
found afterwards.

You are but because PDF generation now works just fine they
get deleted appropriately.

No. The GNUmed client does not prune the temporary directory.
