[GNUnet-developers] GNUnet 0.6.6b and GNUnet 0.7.0pre0 released

The 0.6.6b release fixes various minor and not so minor bugs, including a few
gnunetd crashes. 0.6.6b should be fully compatible with 0.6.6a. You can
download the code at

http://gnunet.org/download/GNUnet-0.6.6b.tar.gz (sources)

The 0.7.0pre0 release is a pre-preview, alpha-quality release to give
developers, package maintainers and extremely adventurous users a chance to
get an early peek at the upcoming 0.7.0 release. 0.7.0pre0 is NOT compatible
with any previous version and will also NOT be protocol or data-format
compatible with 0.7.0. However, it is expected that it will be mostly API
compatible (for people writing user interfaces or database backends).
0.7.0pre0 does not have a graphical user interface, is deliberately crippled
in terms of performance (to stress-test some of the code) and will not
bootstrap (you will always have 0 connections, there is no hostlist).
0.7.0pre0 requires libextractor >= 0.4.2 (it will not even compile against
libextractor 0.4.1 or without libextractor).

It is not recommended to publish binary packages of 0.7.0pre0 without flagging
them as experimental. You can find the source code for 0.7.0pre0 at

http://gnunet.org/download/GNUnet-0.7.0pre0.tar.gz

To summarize, if you want a working peer-to-peer application for file-sharing,
use 0.6.6b. If you want to look at the source code, help development or
checkout where we're heading, play with 0.7.0pre0. More information about
both releases can be found in the news at

http://gnunet.org/

As always, please report problems to

http://gnunet.org/mantis/ (bugtracking)
