Are you sure that you have the latest version of the Autotools? As far as I could tell from searching about it, that *might* be the issue.

Also, on that "statement of confidentiality," that really has no legal value and, furthermore, all e-mails you send to most mailing list remain on the servers for an eternity. I just figured I'd mention it...
