Maybe you can provide a small example for further investigation?

Even that exists, AFAIK, but hasn't been finished yet (at least I
haven't heard anything for a long time).
Nevertheless, I doubt that a proper conversion is easily done -- it
would be necessary to develop a new macro package (or at least an
add-on to one of the standard ones), I think, but who has the time to
do that?
