This is a problem with gs 7.01 (AFAIR) and above. For some versions of
ghostscript, ps2pdf13 will get the ligatures correct.  Any ghostscript in
the 6.xx series works - I've downgraded to GNU ghostscript 6.53.  I see on
the comp.text.pdf list that gs 8.00 *still* has ligature problems.

The document, content-wise, looks great - I look forward to these being
incorporated into groff! - Robert.
