I has noticed that.
We use groff for
a) Letters,
b) Invoices, Quotes
c) Contracts,
d) Technical Reports, Mathematics and Engineering.
and we produce primarily PDFs or printer-read Postscript
The footer and header changes between releases have not affected us much.
But I agree, variations between releases are a pain.
I must admit that far worse is the change between a working Ghostscript in
CentOS 6.6 which displays nicely on a Gnome desktop and a Ghostscript in
CentOS 7.9 which segfaults just as it trys to bring the window up.
At least I or somebody else can fix, or has a fix for, the MM stuff.
