The suggested fix does not work for "\\*(Dd\\".
As it consumes the previous line, using a request that is ignored is
a candidate, for example, requests without an argument, like '.ss',
'.fp', '.pn', '.ti', '.ds', '.as', '.rm' 'rn', and '.hw'.
I assume '.hw' is an adequate example.
So the new lines could look like this
. hw\"DO NOT REMOVE this line, see an earlier comment about a bug
