The Java VM was IBM's Java 1.3.

I have since tried "Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition
Version 1.4.1"
for the Windows environment (likely Sun's version) and Loom works now with any file I give it.

I was unable to pipe the output for IBM Java 1.3 with DOS commands. Are
there any
command parameters that can be used on the command line for JAVA that would
record the output of of program into a "LOG" file or something similiar?

I'm afraid not... I've put online a new jar at

   http://www.channelzilch.com/benja/loom-snapshot.jar

which dumps exceptions on loading a file to fenfire.exception, you can try that. But I'm unable to make a general redirect for Java output...

Could you try this and post the results?

We should revive ZZLogger - could do just that. Probably best place would
be in libvob as well...

The relevant part is printed out by something inside Jena-- ZZLogger wouldn't change that.

The emerging standard seems to be Apache's log4j, btw.
