Long time no hear - hope you are well!
Yes, the inability to delete any records is fully in line with ISO
requirements, and a set of "Inactivate" and "Reactivate" buttons should
do the trick.
Of course, this is a pain in the bum during pilots and trials and
whatever, as you will have to erase the database you played around with
during that preliminary phase - AND you may have done, at the same time,
some serious modification to, for instance, the drug database.
In order to avoid this painful catch-22 (where you either have to potter
on with a trail of legacy rubbish data, or have to re-enter modification
you want to carry over into the production phase), it may e useful to
have an export facility of those data collections that demand a lot of
sweat and blood - some of them may well be in place: Examples: drugs,
ledger of accounts, various categories, inventories (think
instrumentation), ...
Another, related issue is easy access to such internal audit features,
with a readily (!) accessible log. Of course, PostgreSQL can do this
all, but it may e less that user-friendly.
And, the web client, but I understand that's in the make, and decidedly
off-topic :-).
