Hello,

I usually update my system using a VT terminal on my linux box. After doing so, I just enter "reboot" to get sure I'm running the updated software.

Today this seems to have killed my .bash_history somehow. After rebooting and logging in as "root" again, my .bash_history was shown as zero sized file and all my previous commands are lost.

How can something like this happen? Is it a bad idea to enter "reboot" in a shell if I don't want to corrupt the history file?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Manuel
