I must apologize for my careless reply to Peng and for offending
people on the list as a result. I repeated the problematic statement
without caring about the possibility of the offensive connotations. I
didn't have an intention to deny the rights of the transgender people
mentioned in the original reply. Because of my ignorance and lack of
English vocabulary for social issues, I thought transgender people
included diverse types of gender identity including non-binary people,
so I thought the original comment would have mentioned the problem
with forcing everyone to be either a woman or a man, and it would have
intended the necessity of the finer distinction. I also thought the
subsequent statement mentioned the proper association of the rights to
gender or biological sex (such as the one for the right to receive
medical support for a specific biological sex). Let me apologize to
the people and clarify here that I believe the rights associated with
a specific type of gender should be equal to all related people.
