Variable substitution in class lists

It seems that this is not legal:

control:
   domain          = ( mydomain.com )
   cfserver        = ( cfserver.mydomain.com )

copy:
   !${cfserver}::
      /etc/shadow  dest=/etc/shadow
                   mode=600
                   server=${cfserver}
                   encrypt=true
                   verify=true

It would be nice if this was possible... am I missing something?  Is this a
feature that has been considered?
