editfiles: not working on AIX

Hi,

I am not able to use editfiles class on AIX. I have the following settings in my configuration files :

cfagent.conf
control:
editfilesize = ( 0 )
...

update.conf
...
editfiles:
aix::
{ /etc/services
AppendIfNoSuchLine "cfengine 5308/tcp"
}

Note : I tried remarking the entry in cfagent.conf for editfilesize and also by setting the editfilesize to a very large value. In both the case my /etc/services file is not getting updated for the line. The size of /etc/services file is just 45233 bytes.

Each group gets different configuration files through defined cron jobs. Presently the distribution of binaries, rpms, etc is done using multi-tier architecture means the main server distributes the files to the underlying 10 machines and then these 10 machines distibutes the files to remaining 289 machines. Objective : We need to replace the above architecture using CFengine but at the same time we also make sure that network is not fully occupied. We want to have control on the number of machines getting the updates/files. Also, machines cannot be differentiated on IP basis. There are machines falling under different groups in the same IP range. Note : The group under which a machine lies is read by the utility from a flat file. Requirement : How our configuration files should look like and how can we execute different tasks on different set of machines. The former is pretty simple, the latter is very highly localized... so I'll assume you meant the former. :-) The last thing (theoreticallly, anyway) my cfagent.conf does is import a file called cf.finish.
