How to make cfengine more verbose?

We are thinking of creating a database
of all our machines. The database would
record transaction results from what
cfengine does to the computers. This
would give us the ability to quickly
review, at a glance, how our CPU farm
is doing.

To do this, we would need cfengine to
be more verbose, as it currently is
inclined to be very quiet. Trying to
parse the output from --verbose seems
to be our only choice, but not an
appealing one, as it isn't designed
systematic parsing. Also, we aren't
guaranteed that the format remains
the same in the future.

Is there any suggestions to what else
we could do? Ideally, it would be
nice if we could associate a message
string with every action. Then we could
design our own scheme for the message
format which would be friendly for how
we build our database.
