Gnuserv and file extension associations

I have been using gnuserv/gnuclient to send files to my emacs editor session
from various applications. From the applications there is no new frame
created, only a new buffer.   When I associate .cxx file extension to call
gnuclient it creates a new frame for each file.  I am giving the application
the same call as for the file extension case, but they differ in the way
they function.  
        I do not wish to have a new frame for every file I open, so how do I
disable the creation of new frames for file extension support?
