webdav / url-dav / eldav

On page http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/WebDAV we can read:

"Emacs 22 has WebDAV support. See CVS:url/url-dav.el and ElDav"

But whats the purpose of respectively the connection between url-dav and eldav? 
Following the above links i dont find something illustrativ...

Do I need both to use webdav? Or are url-dav and eldav only 2 possibilities
for using webdav? Developing of eldav stopped 2003 and url-dav is still in 
development. Which of them should i use?

Sorry - after googling around more than one hour i have no idea.
(Reading the source is not an option for me because Im not experienced with  
lisp code...)
