I have emacs version: GNU Emacs 29.4 (build 1, x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu,
GTK+ Version 3.24.42, cairo version 1.18.0) of 2024-07-16.
In the Info manual for Emacs I see "This is the ‘GNU Emacs Manual’, updated
for Emacs version 29.4"; so this seems consistent.
In section "49.3 Package Installation", I see
"To keep Emacs from automatically making packages available at startup,
change the variable ‘package-enable-at-startup’ to ‘nil’. [...] Currently
this variable cannot be set via Customize."
but if I type 'C-h v package-enable-at-startup <RET>' I get:
package-enable-at-startup is a variable defined in ‘package.el’. [...]
You can customize this variable.
