[Help-gnunet] Compiling GNUnet/libextractor on OpenBSD

Subject: [Help-gnunet] Compiling GNUnet/libextractor on OpenBSD
Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004 18:34:00 +1100

Hi,

I am having some difficulty getting libextractor and GNUnet to compile.
They are probably OpenBSD specific, but I thought someone out there may
have found a solution for them.

libextractor: fails in libextractor-0.2.6/src/plugins/printable

 [...]
 gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../../../src/include -I../../../src/include
 -DFILTER_NAME=libextractor_printable_no_filter
-DFILTER_INIT_NAME=libextractor_printable_no_filter_init
-DEXTRACT_NAME=libextractor_printable_no_extract -fno-strict-aliasing -g
-O2 -c no.c -Wp,-MD,.deps/libextractor_printable_no_la-no.TPlo -fPIC -DPIC
-o .libs/libextractor_printable_no_la-no.o
no.c:2: virtual memory exhausted
*** Error code 1

I have already tried
- increasing RAM 64M->256M
- adding ~700M swap (and enabling it via swapctl)
- 'ulimit -x unlimited' (where x is all possible parameters)
- compiling as root
- disabling "-O2" and "-g" flags

.....but still no joy.

configure: error: GNUnet only works with shared libraries. Sorry.

I chose OpenBSD for its security, small size and straightforward packages,
but I want to run this system as a GNUnet node, so I am willing to try
another distribution (Linux or BSD) if anyone can suggest something else
small/secure/simple-packages.

Thanks!
