linux /boot/vmlinuz

vmlinuz is a symlink. In some distro's it is placed under /root not
/boot , so for these, it is linux /vmlinuz.
Also for multiple kernels, this symlink is for the latest installed
kernel (there is vmlinuz.old in some distros for the older kernels). Try
using actual kernel instead (of the symlink).

Finally, to boot a uefi OS, grub has to be booted up in uefi.
