That is a good idea in the general sense, however, there are common sources
in the common directory that not all projects link to.
Building a static library of all those files then linking them into each
project that just needed one of those files is not only a good way to
inflate libraries with useless code, but also dangerous if a common source
needed by X project happens to conflict with a method in Y project =/
