have you run "make clean" before? Btw, I always suggest to build out of
the source directory. Let's assume your source is in ~/octave-src
then I would:
cd
mkdir octave-build
cd octave-build
../octave-src/configure --without-osmesa
make -j 4
(or whatever nproc returns)
