    Is it possible to insert the degree symbol [1] in a Texinfo document?
    And if it is, how?

It should be easy enough to add a @textdegree{} command.  I'll do that.

If you need to be able to do it right now, @math{\circ} will give you
the TeX output, although the other formats will lose.  Have to define a
format-dependent @macro to get those too.
