No. There is nothing to darken. texinfo.tex does not output everything
in gray!
I suspect what you're seeing is the difference between Computer Modern,
the default (La)TeX font, and Times-Roman, the most common font used
elsewhere.
Unfortunately there is no easy/documented/supported way to change the
fonts in texinfo.tex. Maybe one day.
