Ok. At least I know that I can stop trying.

I could try that. But I have no experience with Docbook and the
corresponding tools at all. And it would introduce another (probably
rather large) dependency beside latex in the build process. I do
not know if these tools are ususally found in standard installations
of Linux systems.

I found that program too but it seems to be unmaintained
for a long time. It is not really an option to require
this in our build process.

We could probably make the source plain latex and build pdf
and html from it. But then we loose the features of Texinfo
and consistency to the other manuals ...


After all, I think we should just say the the Russian manual
in .pdf form is not supported and we provide the html only.
