I don't know if you already did spend some time on it or not, but
since the builds have started again, I expect you did. Yet,
maint still does not work:

I don't know what is meant here. git log origin/maint shows:

gnulib: update.
* bootstrap.conf (bootstrap_sync): True again.
It was disabled while waiting for changes to be integrated
in gnulib's bootstrap, which was done long ago.
* bootstrap, gnulib: Update.
so I don't know what it means in its "fatal" message. I don't know
where to look at the command that was run that resulted in this
error.
The other branches seem to face the same problem. Is there any way
I can help?
