GIMP and a few others are the mostly used graphics programs, but
depending on how you create art, you might find more goodies in the
repositories.
Depending on how you create art, you may be pleasantly surprised by
what is available.
You might want to digitize your existing work and catalogue it. You
might want to embed watermarks to protect your IP.
You might want to use fractals.
You may want to connect your guitar and use effects from free/libre
software.
I hope that spurs on some mind-mapping/brainstorming on creativity.
