Some people are apparently taking GNU Social seriously as a platform and have created an extension for sharing goods or services, similar to Bunz Trading Zone. Not sure if anyone has heard of Bunz but it started in Toronto IIRC as a Facebook group which thousands of members. It's neat because it lets people trade items like beer or ttc tokens in exchange for an antique lamp or unique piece of art. Of course the problem is they're relying on a closed source platform, and their new Android app and servers backing it are closed source as well. Not to mention their moderation style may not agree with some people.

It's cool to see a plugin for GNU Social that doesn't position it as a Facebook or Twitter alternative.
