If the blog is public then I don't see any harm in using it. But they can make life hard for you if you want to move to another blog (i.e. not putting your blog posts in a usable backup format). I'm not too sure about Blogspot's policies so I don't know how easy/hard they make these things. Other bad thing about Blogspot is that you need a Google account to use it. And therefore most likely require JavaScript to login to your account. Andrew.
