Because it was in a presentation in January I'm not sure what codecs it was compared to - memory doesn't have that detail back that far.
I know they were at the same bit rate though.

I don't know - I have tested Opus vs Vorbis vs Wave (lossless CD
quaility) at 48 kbps on $1000 speakers, and they sound about the same
for my ears. I.e. transparent; I was not able to distinguish between
them and original.
Only at 32 kbps I can hear artifacts in Opus. But Vorbis does not
support 32 kbps, only 48 kbps and up.
