There have been cases where error in a software system has not only
lead to wrong outcome but also deaths [1]. Propitiatory software makes
these issues harder to find and fix. Perhaps it will be worthwhile
effort to collect such instances where proprietary have made scientist
astray and make a stronger case for Libre Software in science. To
startwith I came across about misfortunes of a trio of Mathematicians
using Mathematica.[2]
