It is often possible to unsubscribe from a list by sending a mail with
‘unsubscribe’ subject to a list address _with ‘-request’ appended_ before ‘@’,
e. g. <libreplanet-discuss-request@libreplanet.org>, never to a list itself.
However, the proper way would be to follow one of links in the
‘List-Unsubscribe’ header of any message passed through it. Some MUAs provide
an UI sugar to do that.
