I couldn't help myself: Proof of concept
https://gitlab.com/lilypond/lilypond/-/merge_requests/280. It's much faster
than the current approach for guile 2.2, but I don't understand why it is
slower than the Guile 1.8 approach. Maybe I should try with Guile 3.0?
