Hello,

Sorry the manual is outdated, since linphone-0.12.0 there's no more need 
to choose the network interface, linphone does it automatically for 
every call.
Please use lastest release 0.12.2 and re-test, I can't give any support 
for old releases.
However there are many chances that the problem comes from the sound 
device of computers. Use alsa-drivers to be sure to have the best sound 
drivers.
