In the Lynx.cfg there are 3 values. They are MESSAGESECS,
INFOSECS and ALERTSECS. They
determine how long messages appear on the status line, and
adjusting them can be particularly helpful for users of braille
displays. I haven't tried this, but am told that if you set one of
these variables to 0, that class of messages is not displayed at all.
On Lynx/386 and Lynx/32, I don't use BIOS screen output at all with
Vocal-Eyes. Instead, I set a hyperactive window which reads the
status line whenever the first four character positions change on that
line. I run Lynx in Intermediate user mode, because I don't want to
hear URL's all the time.
