FYI: Rewrite of module subsystem

Since I wrote the last incarnation of m4/module.c over ltdl.c, the facilities
from libltdl have improved immensely. This (rather large) patch implements a
rewrite of the whole module subsystem to leverage these new features. As a
knock on effect, several speedups elsewhere in the code have also been
expoited.

Not included in the attached is the removal of m4/list.[ch], which were
present mostly to manage a list of loaded modules -- a function now provided
by libltdl.

This concludes the backlog of unflushed patches from my local tree. Let the
source quake begin!

Cheers,
        Gary.
