idea for "Up" status

Anyway. i see that you are using an if; then ; else structure, that
will be great!
as i was looking at that i thought of this.

#  check host server with addresss 172.16.10.1
#    if failed port 23 then alert
#    if not failed port 23 then <action>

Would that be of any use?
