Follow-up Comment #7, bug #55630 (project octave):

I'm on 5.1.0 MacOS High Sierra. It's a bit of a nightmare. 
Sometimes I"m getting a good half-hour with it before a hang or crash.

Right now, I'm getting mere seconds before I get the beach ball of sleep.

Yes, I've been deleting the qt-settings file. No difference.

I"m using the app/dmg version.

Going to try the port version...
