Follow-up Comment #3, bug #57095 (project octave):
As the primary octave-snap package maintainer, I am not convinced that
changing octave-snap to be unconfined by default is a good idea. Given that
position, it's of course inevitable that a user will run into some utility
"/usr/bin/foo" that won't work if they try to call it from a confined
application.
I am planning on moving the octave-snap repository to GitHub so we can have an
issue tracker there, and discussion can continue there as needed.
