Follow-up Comment #1, bug #64281 (project octave):
What graphics card do you have?
Does printing to png or svg work for you?
It looks like this is an issue with opengl driver.
Try updating driver for you graphics card;
switch opengl driver from hardware to software.
(The default in 7.x was software, in 8,x it is hardware)
