Follow-up Comment #24, bug #64361 (project octave):

Oops. I realized now that the order in which I copied the output makes it look
like I overwrote x with [x] before I calculated the difference. But that
wasn't the case.

Also, when I wrote that `x(:)` or `[x]` are fine, I meant that they result in
the same series of values than `x` for me...
