Follow-up Comment #21, bug#65321 (group octave):

@jwe: Unfortunately, I agree completely with your assessment.  It could be
*years* before Autoconf fixes this.  And so before that centralized fix is
made, lots of projects will need to apply their own band-aids in different
forms with different levels of functionality.

Should discussion of this take place over at bug #65327 or here?  We try to
keep one issue per bug report and the issue of volatiles has been solved.
