Follow-up Comment #11, bug #65390 (group octave):

I vote to apply jwe patch and deal with misleading error message post 9.1
release. At the moment a workaround is to specify "\n" explicitly in the
format string.


octave:12> s = "1 2\n3 4\n"
s = 1 2
3 4

octave:13> [a,b,c,d] = sscanf (s, '%f %f\n', [2 inf])
a =

   1   3
   2   4

b = 4
c = 
d = 9
octave:14>
