Follow-up Comment #1, bug #42149 (group octave):
Octave has moved some commentary about program differences to
https://wiki.octave.org/Differences_between_Octave_and_Matlab
That would probably be the place to mention any specific differences in
ability to perform integer math between the programs. I did transfer the 'how
to tell if you're running Octave' function from Appendix D to that page. But
it's not clear what the specific integer differences are that should be
articulated. Easy enough for anyone to add that wiki section, or summarize
things if it's detailed elsewhere.
section 4.4.1 of the manual is "Integer Arithmetic", and since at least Octave
4.0.0 appears to have remained relatively unchanged. It does mention that
octave can perform basic mathematical operations with ints and provides some
caveats about overflow and rounding. This is a good place to mention anything
specific to Octave's integer handling, but probably shouldn't be cluttered
with Matlab/Octave differences.
I'll leave this marked as Need Info for now, as its unclear at this point what
the (current version) specific differences are that should be highlighted on
the wiki, and what integer handling issues should get more coverage in section
4.4.1, but lacking anything soon we can probably close this until there's a
more specific request.
