What I was doing was modifying a function in the editor, then closing the tab by clicking the red cross on the editor windows but before the prompt to save appeared the program becomes unresponsive indefinitely and crashes.

Other files were open on the editor and i was closing one at a time.

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #62271 (project octave):

when closing, were you also saving the file? (did it prompt to save before
closing, etc?) how exactly are you closing the files in the editor? menu?
clicking the x, etc? were there other files open at the time or was the one
you were closing the only one?
