I think you could work around the problems with some static, some
auto-generated, and some wiki pages.
I think that using a wiki as infrastructure is OK.
The problem I see with wikis happens if you allow unfettered access to
the edit button. You still need a good editor if you expect the pages
to contain helpful and accurate information.
