I'd like to help with this if I can. This change seems to be causing
some friction :) I know of bug #41178 and #43298, I'd like to help get
those resolved. Is there a summary somewhere of all patches necessary
for building on OSX? Maybe start another thread or ping the relevant
bug reports.
