Follow-up Comment #1:
The audio package is in Octave-Forge. I know that to users the administrative
separation between Octave and Octave-Forge appears very artificial, and it
does to me too. I do want to bring the two projects much closer
administratively, but please bear with us in the meantime and take this to the
Octave-Forge website.
A true cross-platform solution to audio is probably to use SDL instead of what
the audio package currently does.
