Follow-up Comment #12, patch #9974 (project octave): Yeah I know the Wikipedia article you refer to, it explicitly says: _On computer systems with *low* floating-point precision ..._ (emphasis by me) where I guess they refer to 32-bit floats ("singles"). On 64-bit HW (almost all computers these days) it is of no more relevance.
